When you get to be a certain age you start to think that nothing can really shock you anymore. I say to myself daily, “I’m twenty-three years old, there is nothing on this big baby blue Earth that can give me the willies.” I’m almost embarrassed to say this but last night after Chili’s I got the ultimate shocker. Returning home late at night, I saw a man with dark sunglasses (somebody call the fashion police!) using a dog as a sort of guide for walking. Then I remembered that there were blind people in the world. Blind people that had probably never read any of my stories, let alone my novel in progress, Lenny and Bobby. I rushed home, crying, and recorded my story, “The Haircut”, using my voice as a sort of angelic instrument so that nobody could be stopped from loving my work. I went a little crazy last night on Chilis’ Famous Presidente Margaritas but I tried my best to control the slurring and drunken rambling.
Here it is, for EVERYONE to enjoy: “The Haircut” read aloud by Riley Hamilton.
